Santa Rosa, CA (February 23, 2021) – Habitat for Humanity of Sonoma County announced its board of directors named Wayne Kleefeld Chief Executive Officer, July 1, 2020.
Mr. Kleefeld previously held the General Manager position at Habitat of Sonoma County ReStore for 3 years. Under his leadership, sales rose year over year. When the 2017 wildfires swept through Sonoma County Wayne chose to keep ReStore open 7 days a week through November to help the community by offering deeply discounted and free items to individuals impacted by the fires. Prior to joining Habitat in 2017, Kleefeld was in the mortgage industry for 30 years, served as Regional Manager of Job Creation & Economic Development for the Canadian government, and owned two stores under a home movie and video game franchise. Wayne currently serves as a volunteer at Homes 4 the Homeless in Fulton.
“I am excited to be a part of restarting Habitat of Sonoma County and continuing our focus to help low-income families have a safe, decent, and affordable place to call home. We’ve reorganized, we’re strong, and we’re here Sonoma County,” said Wayne Kleefeld.
Tim Leach, who has served as Board President since 2019 said, “I am very pleased that Wayne is now the CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Sonoma County. Wayne distinguished himself as General Manager of our ReStore, leading that enterprise to become one of the top performing ReStores in the larger Habitat for Humanity organization. In evidence of Wayne’s leadership skills, when the Covid pandemic forced the closure of our ReStore in March 2020, he kept our staff intact, consolidated our operations and prepared to reopen as early as possible. Wayne and his staff reopened ReStore in June 2020 in the midst of the raging pandemic. Not only was ReStore reopened, ReStore sales since reopening have met or exceeded the all-time sales records pre-pandemic! Now as CEO, Wayne’s passion for our mission of helping to address the housing needs of local low-income families gives me great confidence for our future!”
